Nitrate releases seed dormancy in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) Columbia accession seeds in part by reducing abscisic acid (ABA) levels. Nitrate led to lower levels of ABA in imbibed seeds when included in the germination medium (exogenous nitrate).
