A Gram-negative, motile and rod-shaped bacterium, designated HU2-65W(T), was isolated from freshwater sediment. The strain possessed ubiquinone 8 as the predominant isoprenoid quinone and contained major amounts of omega7-cis-octadecenoic acid and hexadecanoic acid in its cell envelope, which are properties shared by members of the genus Burkholderia.
