The objectives of this investigation were to isolate the rpoH2 gene encoding an alternative sigma factor from Sinorhizobium sp. BL3 and to determine its role in exopolysaccharide (EPS) synthesis, salt tolerance and symbiosis with Phaseolus lathyroides.
