Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome (HPS) is a genetically heterogeneous disease caused by abnormalities in the synthesis and/or trafficking of lysosome-related organelles (LROs) including melanosomes, lamellar bodies of lung type II cells and platelet dense granules.
