PURPOSE OF REVIEW: The genetic and molecular basis of prostate-cancer pathogenesis is reviewed. RECENT FINDINGS: Several genetic loci have been found that are associated with hereditary predisposition to prostate cancer, but they account for a small fraction of all cases.
