Eight patients who developed severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) were identified among 1302 patients undergoing in-vitro fertilization (IVF) over a 1 year period (prevalence of 0.6%); 63% had ultrasonically diagnosed polycystic ovaries (PCO) and 75% were undergoing their first attempt at IVF.
