Homotetrameric MSDH (methylmalonate semialdehyde dehydrogenase) from Bacillus subtilis catalyses the NAD-dependent oxidation of MMSA (methylmalonate semialdehyde) and MSA (malonate semialdehyde) into PPCoA (propionyl-CoA) and acetyl-CoA respectively via a two-step mechanism.
