Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans (A.f) is a Gram-negative chemolithotrophic bacterium able to oxidize ferrous iron, elemental sulfur and inorganic sulfur compounds. Fe(II)-oxidizing enzyme plays key role in Fe(II)-oxidizing system.
