Two inborn errors in the methyl oxidation of corticosterone to form aldosterone correspond to the two oxygenation-hydroxylation reactions required for this transformation. Both defects are characterized by overproduction of corticosterone of glomerulosa zone origin and deficient synthesis of aldosterone.
