OBJECTIVES: To characterize a new type of resistance to clindamycin in Streptococcus agalactiae. METHODS: Nineteen erythromycin-susceptible, clindamycin-resistant S. agalactiae isolates from New Zealand were studied. MICs of macrolide, lincosamide and streptogramin antibiotics were determined.
