AIMS: To examine the diversity of protozoa in the rumen contents of cow. METHODS AND RESULTS: Protozoa that inhabit the rumen were detected by PCR using protozoan-specific primers. Libraries of protozoan rDNA sequences were constructed from rumen fluid, solid tissues and epithelium.
