PROBLEM: Infertility can accompany mastitis in cattle. Involvement of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) in this phenomenon is suggested by observations that circulating concentrations of TNF-alpha are elevated after intramammary infection or infusion of endotoxin.
