A homolog of the ferric uptake regulator gene (fur) was isolated from Burkholderia pseudomallei (Bp) by a reverse genetic technique. Sequencing of a 2.2kb DNA fragment revealed an open reading frame with extensive homology to bacterial Fur proteins.
