A Pseudomonas aeruginosa oxyR mutant was dramatically sensitive to H(2)O(2), despite possessing wild-type catalase activity. Oxygen-dependent oxyR phenotypes also included an inability to survive aerobic serial dilution in Luria broth and to resist aminoglycosides.
