We studied a 62 year-old woman with a clinical phenotype characterized by encephalopathy, restrictive cardiomyopathy, and prominent intestinal pseudo-obstruction. Muscle morphology showed ragged red fibres with ultrastructurally abnormal mitochondrial whereas muscle respiratory chain was normal.
