We characterized the gravitactic behavior of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, a unicellular green alga, using a computer-analysis system in order to study directional swimming. The effects of the calcium-channel inhibitors gadolinium and diltiazem on graviorientation and swimming speed were examined.
