Does Sociobox phenotyping isolate social preference?

by marine.aubert

Reproducibility alone would not isolate social motivation. Does the study include a nonsocial novelty or matched exploration control that could distinguish social preference from locomotor activity and novelty seeking?

A matched exploration control would change the interpretation only if total investigation is comparable; otherwise reduced social-zone time remains compatible with a general exploration deficit.

By “total investigation,” do you mean time spent investigating social and nonsocial stimuli, or movement throughout the arena, including time away from either stimulus?

I meant the summed time investigating social and nonsocial stimuli. I'd keep movement elsewhere in the arena as a separate measure of activity.
