Rice bacterial leaf streak (BLS), caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola (Xoc), is a prevalent disease worldwide. Melatonin, an indoleamine with the chemical name N‐acetyl‐5‐methoxytryptamine, is known to inhibit the growth of human pathogenic bacteria.
