Incompatibility of variation of nuclear and mitochondrial genomes was shown in four Arctic Mongoloid populations. An increase in heterozygosity was accompanied by a decrease in variation of mtDNA in the Koryaks-Chukchi-Asian Eskimo population series, and corresponds to the gradient of severity of the environment.
