Pigment mutant strain FdR1 of the filamentous cyanobacterium Fremyella diplosiphon is characterized by constitutive synthesis of the phycobiliprotein phycoerythrin due to insertional inactivation of the rcaC regulatory gene by endogenous transposon Tn5469.
