Onchocerca volvulus infected Simulium damnosum s.l. were analysed by directed heteroduplex analysis. Of 73 infected flies, 68 produced heteroduplex products identical to those previously identified. All 6 major sibling species, except S. leonense, were present in this group. In the 5 remaining flies, 2 new heteroduplex patterns were noted.
