A cDNA fragment of the Borna disease virus (BDV) open reading frame II (ORF-II), which encodes a 24-kDa phosphoprotein (p24 [P protein]), was amplified from total RNA of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from three psychiatric inpatients.
