The bacterium Paracoccus denitrificans was investigated for polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) production on eight organic carbon substrates. Aerobic cultivation on crotonate resulted in the most significant PHB accumulation. Additionally, PHB production on butyrate increased with an addition of HCO₃⁻ to the mineral medium.
