Amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) is a group of rare inherited conditions causing tooth enamel defects. Human acid phosphatase 4 (ACP4) is a transmembrane protein involved in maintaining appositional enamel growth. Variants in ACP4 cause recessive hypoplastic AI.
