BACKGROUND: Variants in the dentin sialophosphoprotein (DSPP) gene are associated with dentin dysplasia type II (DD-II; OMIM # 125420) and dentinogenesis imperfecta (DI) types II (OMIM # 125490) and III (OMIM # 125500).
