In regions where both monkeypox virus (MPXV) and varicella zoster virus (VZV) are co-circulating, overlapping clinical manifestations can complicate clinical diagnosis. During the MPXV outbreak declared in Uganda in July, 2024, symptomatic suspected cases tested PCR negative for Mpox.
