Botrydial, botcinic acid, and their derivatives are major phytotoxic metabolites produced by the necrotrophic fungal pathogen Botrytis cinerea. These phytotoxins are able to induce programmed cell death in the host and thereby promote plant susceptibility to B. cinerea.
