Plant height is an important agronomic characteristic of rice (Oryza sativa L.). Map-based cloning analyses of a natural semi-dwarf rice mutant with inwardly curled leaves found in the field revealed that the defects were due to a mutation of a SHAQKYF-class MYB family transcription factor, OsKANADI1 (OsKAN1).
