Autotetraploid Carassius auratus is a stable hereditary autotetraploid fish resulting from the hybridization of Carassius auratus red var. (RCC, ♀) × Megalobrama amblycephala (BSB, ♂), containing four sets of RCC chromosomes. However, the molecular mechanism underlying the determination of sex in this species remains largely unknown.
