BACKGROUND: The proline-rich transmembrane protein 2 (PRRT2) is a synaptic protein involved in neurotransmitter vesicle release. PRRT2 protein is highly expressed in the cerebellum, cerebral cortex, basal ganglia, and hippocampus.
