BACKGROUND: Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a multisystem neurocutaneous syndrome with variable phenotypes. Recent updates of TSC diagnostic criteria reaffirmed the defined genetic diagnostic criterion as the finding of a pathogenic DNA alteration in either TSC1 or TSC2 genes.
