Risk-reducing bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (RRSO) is recommended for breast cancer gene 1 (BRCA1) and 2 (BRCA2) mutation carriers. A major consequence of RRSO is surgical menopause associated with severe menopausal symptoms, mostly genitourinary complaints.
