The self-limited (familial) epilepsies with onset in neonates or infants, formerly called benign familial neonatal and/or infantile epilepsies, are autosomal dominant disorders characterized by neonatal- or infantile-onset focal motor seizures and the absence of neurodevelopmental complications.
