For rapid growth, moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) requires large amounts of nutrients. Nitrate is an indispensable molecular signal to regulate nitrogen absorption and assimilation, which are regulated by group III NIN-LIKE PROTEINs (NLPs).
