Jewel tetra (Hyphessobrycon eques) is a freshwater fish found in several rivers and basins in South America. The present study is the first study to create a panel of microsatellite markers for detecting genetic diversity in H. eques and evaluating the application of these markers in Serrapinnus notomelas.
