BACKGROUND: Sjögren-Larsson syndrome (SLS) is a rare genetic neurocutaneous disease caused by mutations in ALDH3A2 that results in deficiency of fatty aldehyde dehydrogenase and accumulation of fatty aldehydes and alcohols.
