Orthohantaviruses are negative-sense, single-stranded RNA viruses harbored by rodents, shrews, moles, and bats. Of the shrew-borne orthohantaviruses in the Republic of Korea (ROK), Jeju orthohantavirus (Jeju virus, JJUV) was found on Jeju Island.
