A Gram-stain negative, aerobic, non-flagellated, rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain SM1810T, was isolated from deep-sea sediment collected from the Southwest Indian Ocean. Strain SM1810T grows at 15-40 °C (optimum, 28 °C), at pH 5.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 6.0-7.0) and with 0-8% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1.5%).
