Valosin-containing protein (VCP) is involved in multiple cellular activities. Mutations in VCP lead to heterogeneous clinical presentations including inclusion body myopathy with Paget's disease of the bone, frontotemporal dementia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, even in patients carrying the same mutation.
