Following artificial insemination, the egg-laying rate of a large-scale breeder chicken flock declined by10-15 %. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) analysis detected the presence of reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV) in semen from the breeder cocks used.
