Pseudomonas chlororaphis PA23 was isolated from soybean roots as a plant-growth-promoting rhizobacterium. This strain secretes a wide range of compounds, including the antibiotics phenazine-1-carboxylic acid (PCA), pyrrolnitrin, and 2-hydroxyphenazine.
