Breeding crops with high zinc (Zn) density is an effective way to alleviate human dietary Zn deficiencies. We characterized a mutant Lilizhi (LLZ) accumulating at least 35% higher Zn concentration in grain than the wild type (WT) in hydroponic experiments.
