Nine microsatellite DNA markers were developed and characterized for Siganus oramin by the 5'-anchored polymerase chain reaction technique. A total of 42 alleles were identified in 30 individuals, and the number of alleles per locus ranged from 3 to 7, with an average of 4.7.
