BACKGROUND: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) recurrence in recipients who are viremic at time of liver transplantation (LT) is universal and carries poor prognosis. Pretransplant antiviral therapy to eradicate HCV reduces recurrence, but withdrawal rate is high.
