During the 2008-2009 rotavirus season, 10 G3P[6] rotavirus strains were isolated for the first time in Belgium, while an outbreak of G2P[6] strains occurred in the USA in 2005-2006. Partial sequencing of the 11 genome segments of the 10 Belgian G3P[6] strains revealed a clonal origin.
