Abstract excerpt
Stripe rust (yellow rust) of wheat, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici, is one of the most important diseases in both China and the United States. The Chinese and US populations of the stripe rust fungus were compared for their virulence phenotypes on wheat cultivars used to differentiate races of the pathogen in China and the US and molecular genotypes using simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers.
