Ichthyosis with confetti (IWC) was first described as ichthyose en confettis and subsequently as congenital reticular ichthyosiform erythroderma. Because of the development of hundreds to thousands of pale, normal-appearing confetti-like spots during childhood, the disease was named IWC.
