A Gram-staining-variable, motile, endospore-forming and rod-shaped bacterial strain, IDS-20(T), was isolated from a marine solar saltern in Korea and subjected to a polyphasic taxonomic investigation. Strain IDS-20(T) grew optimally at 37 °C, at pH 7.5-8.0 and in the presence of 4-5 % (w/v) NaCl.
