BACKGROUND: Dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB) is a genodermatosis caused by mutations in COL7A1. The clinical manifestations are highly variable from nail dystrophy to life-threatening blistering, making early molecular diagnosis and prognosis of utmost importance for the affected families.
