The Fukuyama type congenital muscular dystrophy (FCMD) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by cranial, cerebellar and ocular malformations and congenital muscular dystrophy. Hyperekplexia is characterized by transient, generalized rigidity in response to unexpected loud noises or sudden tactile stimulation.
